[ The Threshold Detail ]

Why Doors Leak at the Bottom, Not the Middle

When homeowners tell us a door is draughty, the slab is almost never the problem. The heat is leaving at the threshold, the one part of a door assembly that has to seal against a moving component while carrying foot traffic and shedding meltwater.

A standard aluminium sill conducts cold straight through from outside to inside. A thermal-break threshold puts an insulating barrier in the middle of that path. Pair it with a correctly set bottom sweep and a multi-point lock that pulls the slab evenly into its weatherstripping, and the draught disappears. It's the same envelope thinking we bring to window and door replacement across the Greater Toronto Area.

  • Multi-point locking engages at several points up the door edge, giving better security and a more even seal.
  • Heavy-duty strike plates anchored into structural framing, not just into trim.
  • Complete unit replacement: frame, slab, threshold and hardware, not a new slab in an old frame.
  • Aluminium jamb wrapping outside and finished trim returns inside, included in the installation.

What Door Customers Say

Rated 4.9 out of 5 across 150+ reviews.

"They replaced every window in our North York home with triple-pane units. The house is noticeably warmer and our heating bill dropped. The in-house crew was tidy and professional."
Daniel R.North York
"We had foggy glass in three windows. Instead of pushing a full replacement, they swapped just the glass units and saved us a lot. Honest and knowledgeable."
Priya S.Mississauga
"Our new Schuco tilt-and-turn windows are stunning and incredibly solid. The security hardware is next level. Worth every dollar for our Richmond Hill home."

[ Common Questions ]

Door Questions, Answered

Do you use subcontractors for installation?

No. Every window and door is installed by our own in-house crews, which is how we keep quality consistent and stand behind our 10-year labour warranty.

What warranty do you offer?

We back our installations with a 10-year labour warranty, in addition to manufacturer product warranties. We're also Energy Star Canada certified, CSA A440 compliant and WSIB insured.

Which areas do you serve?

We serve the entire Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto, Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill and Oakville. In Oakville and Vaughan we handle a high share of premium European system installs.

How much does a new entry door cost?

Entry doors run $1,500–$4,500 installed, depending on material (steel or fiberglass), glass options like sidelites and transoms, and multi-point security hardware.

How long does installation take?

A standard entry door is typically installed in a single day. Whole-home window projects usually take one to a few days depending on the number of windows and whether it's retrofit or full-frame work.
