## Sound Familiar?

Four things bring GTA homeowners to us. Here's what's actually going on behind each of them.

### Drafty Builder-Grade Windows

Cold air rolls along the floor and the furnace runs longer every winter.

Worn weatherstripping and racked sashes stop compressing. A properly sealed Energy Star Zone C unit closes the pathway completely, which is the change most homeowners notice first.

### Foggy or Failed Glass Units

Haze and mineral staining you cannot wipe off, trapped between the panes.

The perimeter seal on the insulated glass unit has failed and the argon has escaped. If the frame is sound we swap only the glass unit, which costs a fraction of full replacement.

### Confusion Over Ratings and Rebates

U-factor, Zone C, Greener Homes, HER+, and no clear answer on real installed cost.

We state the U-factor per opening in writing, price each window individually, and explain the rebate assessment sequence before you commit rather than after.

### Inconsistent Subcontracted Installs

You meet a salesperson, then a crew you have never spoken to arrives.

Every installation is carried out by our own in-house crews. The company that measured the job is the company that installs it and warranties it for 10 years.

We diagnose first and quote second, including telling you when a repair beats a replacement.

\[ Logistics \]

## How We Work Across Toronto

Our crews reach every part of the old city, from the Beaches in the east to High Park in the west, using the Gardiner, the DVP and Lake Shore Boulevard as the main arteries. Downtown and Midtown work is scheduled outside peak traffic so the truck is parked and the first opening is out before mid-morning.

Narrow downtown lots change how a job runs. On semi-detached and row houses with no driveway, we arrange short-term street parking and stage materials indoors rather than on the lawn. Upper-floor openings on three-storey Victorians are handled from ladders or a light scaffold, and we protect the stairwell and floors on the way through.

Most single-family window projects in Toronto finish in one to three days. A whole-home replacement on a detached home in Leaside or High Park typically runs two to three days; a six to eight window retrofit on a Riverdale semi is usually a single day. Entry doors are almost always same-day, opening removed and new unit sealed before we leave.

\[ Housing Stock \]

## Toronto Housing Stock We Know Well

**Pre-war semis and row houses** in Riverdale, Leslieville and the Annex often still have wood sash or early aluminum sliders in masonry openings. These are usually good candidates for full-frame brick-to-brick replacement, because the original wood bucks have rotted at the sill and a simple insert would seal over the problem.

**Post-war bungalows and 1.5-storeys** in East York and the Beaches typically have 1980s or 1990s builder-grade double-pane units. Frames are often still square, so a retrofit (insert) install gives most of the energy gain at a lower cost.

**Detached homes** in Leaside, High Park and the Kingsway commonly have large picture windows and bay assemblies. These benefit most from triple-pane glazing with argon fill and warm-edge super spacers. The surface temperature difference on a cold January morning is immediately noticeable.

**Basement and lower-level openings** across the city fall under City of Toronto Building Code requirements for egress in bedrooms. We size and confirm compliant openings as part of the quote rather than after the fact.

\[ Toronto FAQ \]

## Toronto Questions, Answered

### How quickly can you quote a window replacement in Toronto?

We book free in-home measurements across Toronto within a few business days. The visit takes about 45 minutes. We measure every opening, check frame and sill condition, and leave you with itemised pricing rather than a rough per-window figure.

### Which parts of Toronto do you cover?

The full old city: Downtown, Midtown, the Annex, High Park, Leslieville, Riverdale, the Beaches and East York, plus Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough as separate service areas.

### Do you do brick-to-brick installs on older Toronto homes?

Yes. On pre-war semis and row houses with rotted wood bucks or failed masonry openings, full-frame brick-to-brick is usually the right call. We remove the entire old frame back to the structural opening, re-flash, insulate and re-trim.

### What does window replacement cost in Toronto?

Vinyl windows run $600–$1,200 installed per window. Triple-pane upgrades add roughly $900–$1,800 per opening. A whole-home replacement on a typical Toronto detached home lands between $8,000 and $18,000.

### Do you handle basement egress windows in Toronto?

We supply and install compliant egress-sized units where the existing opening allows it, and we confirm the required clear opening against City of Toronto Building Code during the quote. We do not perform foundation cutting or wall enlargement.

### Can I get a rebate on new windows in Toronto?

Our Energy Star Zone C certified installations are eligible for the Canada Greener Homes Grant and Enbridge HER+, subject to a registered pre- and post-retrofit energy assessment. We'll explain the sequence so you don't disqualify yourself by installing first.

### How long does a Toronto whole-home window project take?

One to three days for most homes. A six to eight window retrofit is usually a single day. Full-frame work on a larger detached home runs two to three days.

### Do you work on condos or only houses?

We focus on freehold houses, semis and townhomes. Condo and high-rise glazing is usually governed by the corporation's building envelope contract, so we'd point you to your property manager first.

### Still have a question?

Ask us during your free in-home measurement, or get in touch and we'll answer it straight.
